A note from our Thespian Liaison, Jennie Baker - Sunday, 11/25/12:

- Chaperons will car pool in our own cars. Jennie will provide car pool details.
- The event is at the George R Brown and the hotel we're staying at is the Hilton Americas (713) 739-8000, 1600 Lamar St., downtown, adjacent to the
George R Brown.
Schedule Overview:
- The kids will attend workshops Thursday afternoon.
- Bright Ideas will be performed Thursday night at 8 pm.
- Times for performances and Tech Events will be provided on Thursday.
- Tech events are scheduled throughout and the performance events are on Friday this year (not Thursday).
- Scholarship and college auditions are Friday and Saturday.
- Students have been told to bring snacks for their room and to coordinate with their room mates. Room assignments have been posted on the call wall.
- Scholarship Call Backs, Workshops, Play Marathons continue on Saturday through 10:00 pm.
- Saturday pickup at 10 am pending the circumstances listed below under Saturday PICK UP.
What to Wear When:
- On the first day, the kids are expected to wear a Bright Ideas Shirt, the Tech Shirt (if they're competing), or any SHS Theater Shirt.
- Friday, when not performing, the kids are expected to wear the Baseball Thespian shirt. (Baseball shirts will be passed out at 3:00 in the scene shop for those who have paid, all others see below.)
- Performers should wear "nice blacks" - black dress, black skirt, black character shoes, black slacks, black shoes - should be professional, not evening, not "skimpy". Use Link above to see "what NOT to wear" and the suggested dress code.
- Saturday, all should wear this year's Thespian shirt (the teal one, with the peacock on the back).
Guidebook:
The guidebook for this year's convention, including the full schedule of workshops in on line. It's a free download from the Apple Ap Store or the Android Market. ENCOURAGE your kids to download early this week and plan their workshops accordingly. This is a great opportunity. The workshops are varied and can be serious, fun, or educational. The kids got instructions last week. Remind them we are GOLD. (There is a BLUE schedule, too.) The ap allows you to create your own schedule. (I'm not tech savvy and I created mine!) Link is shown above. If they need help with the installing, talk to Mr. Holmes. Times for performances and Tech Events will be provided on Thursday. http://guidebook.com/getit/
Payment for Dinner & Movie and Baseball Shirts:
- Friday night dinner will be at Birraporetti's. Movie night is at the Sundance Movie Theater, downtown. This is a FUN tradition. Kids will select from three movies at Sundance when we get to Convention on Thursday.
- All monies must be paid by Tuesday, November 27. No Dinner & Movie checks will be accepted AFTER Tuesday, November 27. Anyone not attending the dinner and a movie will remain at the Convention Center for other Convention activities.
- I'll be distribution baseball shirts and collecting money on Monday and Tuesday, at 3:00 PM, in the scene shop. (TWO CHECKS are required because we are paying from two different sources - the Booster Club is reimbursing me for Dinner and the Movie; and the Thespian account reimburses me for the Baseball shirts).
- Dinner & Movie check is for $38.50, made payable to STRATFORD PLAYHOUSE.
- All attendees MUST HAVE A BASEBALL shirt. (Chaperons, the baseball shirt is NOT required, but you may buy one). If you don't have a Baseball shirt from previous years, the baseball shirt check is for $25, made payable to STRATFORD HIGH SCHOOL THEATER.
